CVS Deal-Running: Valentine's Day

In fall 2008/winter 2009, I was a total CVS addict, hitting the store a few times a week and often netting $15-$20 worth of merchandise for under $1.

Then, in spring '09, the hot deals and $/$$ coupons kind of tapered off (especially FREE-after-ExtraCare-Bucks stuff), and I became pregnant, no longer having the energy to jump in the car and go persue a transaction, especially since my closest CVSes often ran out of the hot deal items very early in the week (and often by early Sunday morning!). Out of ExtraCare Bucks, I made only a few more runs to CVS for the rest of 2009.

But now, with my coupon file newly replenished, I'm ready to give getting back on the CVS train another go with one, maybe two runs tomorrow. Here's what I'm planning, based on the matchups for the coming week provided here:

1 Covergirl foundation $6
1 Covergirl foundation $6
1 DiGiorno pizza $6 (estimated)
1 DiGiorno pizza $0.01 (buy one, get one for a penny sale)
Filler item ~$1.99 or so
==================
$20 Subtotal

Use:
  • $4/$20 coupon (a coupon for this value, among other values, was emailed to many CVS cardholders for this weekend)
  • Covergirl Buy One, Get One Free coupon (02/07 P&G)
  • 2 DiGiorno Pizza $1 manufacturer coupons (01/24 SS)
$8 total
Receive $5 ExtraCare Bucks in return, usable on future purchase at CVS

If this works out, then I might use the $5 ECBs to get some Stacy's Pita Chips (so yummy with hummus!)

3 x Stacy's, 2/$5 this week
$0.50 filler
==========
Subtotal $8

Use:
  • $5 ECBs
  • 3 x $1 off coupons, 01/24 SS
Final price: FREE (or at least pennies)

So: This week I could end up paying ~$8 for two pieces of makeup, two frozen pizzas, and three bags of pita chips, plus filler items. Not too shabby!

Now, let's just see whether everything is in stock, and all of my coupons go through as planned. :)
