Super Savings Saturday: Triple Coupons at Harris Teeter!

Both A. and I have been in survival mode this week with husbands out of town. It was my second back-to-back week of my husband being out of town, and boy are we glad to have him home!

I also got to experience my quarterly migraine, and I don't remember much about Wednesday because of it! I've been thanking God for produce in the fridge and easy-to-prepare options in the freezer this week because cooking just wasn't happening between lack of sleep and migraine world. If you've ever had one, you'll understand what I'm sayin' when I say that I go to a different place when I have one! I'll call it Migraine World.

I did have some time Thursday morning to scout out the triple coupon deals at Harris Teeter. A new one opened up in Fairfax (Pender Village), so I've decided to try to familiarize myself with the store. The mid-morning customer service was fantastic since I needed to sign up for a VIC card and ask a couple of other questions.

Thanks to Moneywise Moms, I went with a few additional printed coupons in hand, only to find that my HT location doesn't sell Ronzoni pasta. Alas! I spent $2.53 for over $18 worth of groceries. The cashier said "Wow!" after scanning all my coupons. Can't beat that!

Harris Teeter: Double Coupons through 1/12

Calling all Harris Teeter shoppers! Double coupons are back!

Gina has more details here, but you should know that HT is doubling coupons up to $1.98 for the DC area. There are some serious deals to be had, so start culling your coupons!
SouthernSavers has a list of coupon matchups here. We may not go since we're on a mission with Eat from the Pantry month, but if you go, we'd love to hear your comments about any deals you spot.

Tuesday Deals Roundup: $5/$25 CVS coupon, Super Doubles at Kmarts, free 8x10 at WalMart, $10/$25 Yankee Candle, and more!

Go here to take a quick test on your flu IQ and get a $5 off $25 coupon for CVS!

Ginger of Attention Target Shoppers has reported that Target checkouts have started posting some delightful signs about the acceptance of coupons (including stacking manufacturer coupons with Target coupons). Thanks, Ginger! Have you seen these signs at your own Targets? If you're feeling bold, post a comment to tell us where!

Money Saving Mom says that some Kmarts will be doing Super Doubles again next week. (Thanks, Crystal!) Be sure to call your local Kmart in advance to check that it is participating.

Freebies 4 Mom has a post about how to get a free 8x10 photo print with any 1-hr. order at WalMart. (Thanks!) Even if you order a $0.15 4x6 print in 1-hr. mode, this will count; you may simply need to wait a couple of hours for the code to show up in your email. 8x10 + inexpensive frame (Tuesday Morning, anyone?) = great gift for parents and grandparents!

Harris Teeter Triple Coupons ends today, 09/22. There are so many good deals to be had in this promo, though, so if you have an HT nearby, it's probably worth checking out. Frugal Friends did a great demo post showing a couple of HT triples trips, and FF also linked to three other blogs who posted HT triples matchups. Thanks, Frugal Friends!

Frugal Coupon Mom has a link to a $10 off $25 purchase coupon for Yankee Candle. Thanks!!

Frugal in Virginia reminds us of the incoming onslaught of freebie holiday cards - starting with 12 free Shutterfly holiday photo cards. If you can wrangle your family into some sweaters for a couple of shots, you'll have a few "holiday theme" pics on standby for early bird sample deals like this. Thanks, Dana!

A fun surprise: Family Dollar's $0.11 diapers got very positive reviews on Baby Cheapskate.

Happy wheeling and dealing! :)

Harris Teeter Super Doubles - Get Swept Away!

I saw an email from my mother-in-law today. (She happens to live a mile or two from a Harris Teeter.)

"...I'm cleaning up at Harris Teeter this week. I just returned home with $60.00 worth for $8.00. Whee!..."

Needless to say, homegirl is feeling the Super Doubles Orinoco flow. Sail away, sail away, sail away!

Through September 1, you can:
  • Double your coupons valued at $1.98 or less (you must have the store loyalty VIC card to get the sale prices).
  • Use up to a limit of 20 coupons per transaction. Some stores enforce this to mean that you can only use 20 per day, even if you go to two separate stores.
  • Use just 1 coupon on a BOGO deal- but you don’t have to buy 2 products to get the BOGO price.
NOVAThrifty has a great (and growing!) list of Super Doubles matchups - this is the list my mother-in-law was using while shopping at HT. There are also Super Doubles matchups at The Deal Scoop.

Huggies Diapers As Low As $0.19 Each at Harris Teeter

We had a reader email us a deal on Huggies Diapers (thank you!). Right now they are about $6 off each package, making a package of 52 diapers $12.99. If you can stack this deal with the coupons around for $2 or $3 off Huggies, our reader suggests, you could get a 52-pack of size 3s for as low as $9.99, or ~$0.19 each, compared with $0.37 each normally, a ~47% discount. Nice!

There were two applicable 05/17 SS coupons: $1.50 off Huggies diapers coupon and a $2 off Huggies Pull-Ups coupon. You can get a $2 printable Huggies Pull-Ups coupon by registering here. This might be a separate printable $2 Pull-Ups coupon (not sure).

More $/$$ coupons - Bloom and Shopper's Food Warhouse - but Usable At Other Stores, Too!

There are more $/$$ grocery coupons in today's Washington Post (A15 and A17, plus others like Ruby Tuesday BOGO entrees) - for Bloom and Shopper's Food Warehouse. There is also a printable coupon available via Bloom's website for $10/$40, good 05/20-05/26 - posted earlier today by Jodi (thank you!) of Never Pay Retail Again.

Remember that these coupons can be used at Harris Teeter, or as Penny Possibilities helpfully pointed out (thanks Heather!), at SuperFresh, both of which officially accept competitors' coupons. Some other NOVA/MD/DC Metro area grocery stores are open to accepting these competitor coupons, but it's probably wise to ask before you shop at the Customer Service desk as it can vary on a store-by-store basis. Frugal in Virginia has confirmed that all Giants accept competitor coupons.

$/$$ Shopper's Food Warehouse Coupons in the Washington Post

Gina alerted us to the presence of $/$$ coupons for Shopper's Food Warehouse in today's Washington Post. Values are:

$5/$25
$10/$50
$15/$75

Basically, a 20% discount is what we're talking about here - before your manufacturer coupons, if you're using any. If you make a $150 purchase, you can use all three coupons and save $30.

Remember that Harris Teeter officially - (and some Safeways and Giants, depending on the manager/policy) - accepts competitors' $/$$ coupons, so if you have some rockin' deals elsewhere, don't be afraid to ask in advance if you can use the Shopper's coupons!

New Coupons.com and upromise.com coupons out for May!

Remember to go to coupons.com and check out the sweet May coupons now available - including $1 off one box coupons for many, many Kellogg's cereals, limit 2 per Windows-run computer. Crystal Paine of Money Saving Mom posted a cool tip yesterday for how to get a second link to a new 'batch' of Kellogg's coupons, too! Coupons are often limited in number, so print the ones you want today!

Have you loaded your batch of May upromise coupons? I just did - and $45.95 worth of May coupons - potential upromise account credit - is now linked to my loyalty cards, just in case I snag some coupon deals with them. If you have store loyalty cards (CVS, Giant, Safeway, Shopper's Food Warehouse, Wegmans, Harris Teeter, Food Lion, anybody?) - then you can tie your loyalty card to your upromise accounts. Just sign into upromise.com, make sure that your loyalty card numbers are tied to your upromise accounts, and go to 'Earn Rewards' in the top menu bar, and click 'e-Coupons'. You can select all of the coupons and load them for May.

You do not get the discounts right away for having loaded these coupons - the 'savings' is loaded instead to your upromise account when you purchase selected items with the store loyalty cards whose numbers you've added to your upromise account. The coupons are very often for the same items heavily promoted in Sunday inserts and store weekly ads, so if you are a couponer, odds are good that you may find yourself buying items that are on the upromise monthly e-Coupons lineup. (Still present in the May e-Coupons: Johnsonville Sausage, Post Cereal Coupons, Huggies...sounding familiar?)

Yes - it is a small amount, but something is better than nothing, and this is a painless way to add some college savings in just a couple of minutes. Think about it: you'd kick yourself if you later realized that the CVS "Free After ExtraCare Bucks" item(s) you purchased would also have given you a couple of bucks in your upromise account just because your store loyalty card numbers and coupons would have been pre-loaded. And remember that purchasing certain participating products with your store loyalty card every day (even without e-Coupons!) will add slowly but surely to your upromise accounts, so go get your account up and running! :)

Reader Tip - Harris Teeter - Buy 1, Get 2 on Frozen Chicken, through Tuesday Night, April 28

We just got a tip from reader Charlotte on a deal going on at the Harris Teeter in Ashburn. If you're near a Harris Teeter, keep an eye out to see if this deal is going - or better yet, if you're near the Ashburn Harris Teeter, stock up! :) Thanks so much, Charlotte!

Charlotte said,
"My friend works at Harris Teeter in Ashburn and let me know of a great deal on Harris Teeter frozen chicken. It is Buy 1 Get 2 bags free (1 bag = $9.99) so comes up to a little over $3.00 a bag. She said this deal is going on until midnight on Tuesday. She was not sure if all the Harris Teeters are doing this promotion. We just got our 3 bags for $10.00!"

Get Your Simple And Delicious Coupon Booklet - and Use FREEBIE Coupon with $/$$ Coupons for Maximum Savings!

One strategy that coupon-collectors treasure is the acquisition of high-value manufacturer coupons through request-by-Internet/received-by-snail-mail coupon booklets. Case in point: the Simple and Delicious coupon booklet that has recently hit the 'Net.

What's in this booklet? $10 in savings for brands such as Hunt's, Chef Boyardee, and Orville Reddenbacher - even a coupon for a FREE 24 oz. bottle of Hunt's ketchup, just in time for barbecue season to be firing up.

No-strings-attached freebie coupons are great fillers for $/$$ coupons (like $10 off a $50 purchase). Even if you find one for a store you don't normally visit, remember that Harris Teeter accepts competitors' $/$$ coupons, and that Giant now accepts Safeway coupons and is even rumored to email $/$$ coupons. Does anybody know if CVS carries Hunt's 24 oz. bottles of ketchup? 0:-)

Money Saving M
om, Mommy's Wish List, Freebies 4 Mom, Frugal Coupon Mom, and the Bargain Jargon also blogged about this booklet recently.

Cheap, Healthy Weekend, 04/03-04/06

Before the weekend kicks off, we try to post a list of healthy eats deals - including produce, lean meats, and coupon matchups on healthier items. This can slash your produce and meat budget, even without a huge coupon stash, so look out for Cheap, Healthy Weekend in the future. You will also see a bit of coverage on what health benefits certain items have to offer - like links to what NutritionData.com has to say!

Feel free to contribute to the Cheap Healthy Weekend lovin' with ideas of your own by adding a comment! :)

Your Cheap, Healthy Weekend Shopping List,
04/03-04/06:

Giant
Doing $1 in-ad doubler coupons (only 4 per transaction, transaction must be $15+). Don't get too excited though - check out Shopper's Food Warehouse April double coupon matchups first!
  • $1.66/lb. strawberries
  • $0.40/box Green Giant boxed vegetables. They are on sale this week, 10/$10, but if you use the $0.60/2 coupon printable at Eat Better America, it will double, and you'll pay just $0.80 for two.
  • Swanson Broth is $0.80/can. When you use the $1/6 coupon and get it doubled, it will be $0.47/can instead.
Shopper's Food Warehouse
Doubling all coupons up to $1 in value through Sunday. See all matchups here.
  • Post cereals are 2/$4, no limits. There was a coupon for $1/2 Post Cereals in the 03/08 SmartSource insert - a manufacturer coupon. There is a retailer coupon in the Shopper's Food Warehouse ad for the coming week for $1 off two (exp. 04/08/09). The manufacturer coupon doubles, but the retailer one does not, resulting in $1 for two boxes - just $0.50/each for cereal! If you're lucky, you'll get a Catalina at the end of your transaction, too (I didn't, but Gina did!).
  • Dannon Yoghurt is 10/$5, or $0.50 each, but if you double the $1/10 Dannon coupon from the 03/15 SS, you will get them for $0.30 each!
  • Ragu is 2/$4. The 04/01 (or 03/31?) Red Plum had a $0.30/1 coupon, which would double, making the Ragu $1.40/jar.
  • Aquafina 24-packs are $3.99. Use the Buy 2, Get 1 Free coupon from a recent Sunday Supplement to get three for $7.98, or $2.83/24-pack.
  • Birds Eye frozen Steamfresh Broccoli and Cauliflower blends are 2/$4. Use the $1/3 coupon from the 03/01 Red Plum insert to make them $1.33 each.
  • Hillshire Farm Deli Select Lunch Meats are 2/$7. Use the $0.55/1 coupon from the 02/22 Red Plum to make them $2.40 each. (Shhh...it's not healthy, but it's related: When you buy two, you can probably use the Shopper's Food Warehouse weekly ad coupon (a manufacturer coupon) for buy two Hillshire Farm Deli Select Lunchmeats, and get a Lay's Potato Chips (10.5-11 oz bag!) FREE!)
  • Del Monte canned vegetables are 10/$10. When you use the $1.00/12 (02/08 Red Plum - expires 04/04!), you can get 12 for $10, or $0.83/can.
  • Swanson Chicken Broth is 2/$5. Use the $1/2 coupon from the 03/29 SS insert to get the broth for $1.50/carton.
  • Dole Pineapple is 10/$10. Use the $0.75/2 any Dole canned fruit (02/01 SS) to get the pineapple for $0.25/can!
  • Zone Perfect Bars are 10/$10. Use the $0.55/1 coupon (03/01 SS) to make them FREE!
  • Nature Made Vitamins are 33% off. Use the $1/1 coupon (doubles) from the 01/04 and 02/01 SS inserts.
  • Dole Mandarin Oranges (large size) are $1.00, and there is a $1.00/3 coupon in the 3/29 insert, which doubles. You pay $1.00 for all three, and a $0.75-off-your-next-purcase-at-Shoppers Catalina will print out. Net is $0.25 for all three!
  • Wholly Guacamole should be cheap with $1/1 coupon doubled (last time in March the 2/$4 - aka free after coupon - was a sale price, unfortunately)
  • Cascadian Farms products - there is a $1/1 which makes for FREE mixed veggies, peas or corn which are on sale for $2, and fries are $0.59 after doubled $1 coupon.
  • Starkist Seasons bowls are on sale for $1.99 - free after $1/1.
  • Starkist Pouches are $2.09 or $2.19 - doubled $1/1 makes them almost free, AND, you can use the B2G1 Free to get another one free for every 2 you buy.
  • Success Rice is $2.19 - $0.19 after $1/1 doubled.
  • Quaker Rice Snacks are $1.99, ergo FREE after last weekend's $1/1 doubles.
  • Nature's sweet cherry tomatoes $1.98 ea., use $1/2 for 2 bags less than $2.

  • Green Seedless Grapes are .99/lb.
  • Large Russet Potatoes are .69/lb.
  • 93% Lean Ground Beef is $2.49/lb, which is the lowest it's been in a while (sometimes it goes down to $1.99/lb). If you need to stock up and cook ahead, it's a pretty good price. They also have 90% lean for $1.99/lb or 80% lean for $1.49/lb.
Gina says: "These SuperCoupons say limit 1 coupon per transaction, but I listed the coupon matchups in case your store will still take a manu coupon on top (some still do):"

Reader Email - Harris Teeter Triple Coupons Allowing Consecutive Transactions!

We received a delightful email this weekend. (Thanks!) With our email-writer's permission, we're sharing some excerpts with you because of some useful tips:

"One tip I wanted to pass along is that that with Harris Teeter's coupon policy, a shopper is supposed to only be allowed 20 coupons per day. But most cashiers will let you split up an order if you have more than 20 coupons to use. What I do is just tell the cashier at the beginning that I have to pay for some items separately, I don't offer an explanation as to why, and they don't ask. So yesterday, when I went during their triple coupon week, I was able to use 20 coupons in the first order and 16 in the second. The store wasn't busy at all and the cashier didn't even blink about it."

So, it looks like Harris Teeter and Bloom are pretty similar. If you're hitting up the stores at a non-busy time and ask nicely, a cashier is likely to allow you to do a couple of consecutive transactions - in this way allowing you to use more than the 20 coupons limited per transaction.

Our email writer also mentioned:

"Great tip too about the [deal listed in a recent post about] Motts Applesauce at Target. I went there with the Target and Motts coupons so I could stack them (my Target had them on sale for $1.87), so with the $1.55 in coupons for each, I got 5 total for under the price for one normally. I was shocked when I went to HT to see the same apple sauce is normally $3.05 (because I had thought about not making separate trips and just using the $0.55 coupon to triple at HT and not go to Target). I was sure glad that I did stop at Target after all!"

This second part illustrates a great point: if you are willing to make even two stops at different stores during the week, you can save quite a lot more, especially when compared with using only one store's ads and coupon matchups.

Of course, the more stores you are willing to visit, the more you stand to save, but there is something to be said for conserving gas money, time, and oh yes: your sanity. :) Being especially dedicated to following deals at just two stores is a great starting point. Our email-writer later pointed out that her Target and Harris Teeter happen to be very close to each other, and this is a great way to kick off your 'two store or more' strategy; begin with the stores closest to you (and to each other!) and see what deals appeal. You'll be hedging your bets savings-wise.

We do not accept any internet coupons from other retailers.

You can use those $5 off $25 and $10 off $50 Shopper's coupons from Thursday's paper at Harris Teeter during triple coupons!! Yippee!!!! Remember to hand over your $/$$ competitor coupon first...then go in for the grand finale with a stack off 20 coupons. ;)

Psssst...Harris Teeter Triples, 03/25 to 03/31

And here I was just thinking how odd it was to have a weekend with no coupon doubling/tripling after such a chaotic stretch of coupon double and triple offers, each with limits and parameters as unique as a snowflake.

Psych! Harris Teeter is tripling this week!
Since we don't have Harris Teeters that close to us, we don't get to experience with regularity the wonderfulness of its monthly (or so) triple coupon extravaganzas.

But good news! Laura at Blessings in Bargains has got y'alls' back on Harris Teeter. Check out her post and the requisite link to Hot Coupon World matchups for more information on how to snag some great deals at Harris Teeter. Thanks, Laura!

Also, Dana of Frugal in Virginia posted some Harris Teeter triple coupon matchups yesterday. Fantabulous. Thanks, FIV!

Bloom and Harris Teeter Triple Coupons 03/20-03/31 (March 2009)

Laura at Blessings in Bargains just scooped this tidbit. Thanks so much for the alert, Laura!

This is a good opportunity to purge your collection of coupons that weren't worthwhile to redeem at the Shopper's 'up to $1.00 doubled' special last weekend.

Laura says,
  • "For Bloom, it sounds like they will be tripling from 3/20 to 3/22. Discussion of this deal is available here on Hot Coupon World.
  • For Harris Teeter, the dates in question are 3/25 to 3/31. Discussion of this deal is available here on Hot Coupon World."
Traditionally, the stores have limited to 20 coupons per transaction, and triple up to $0.99-valued coupons.

Here's a list of all unexpired Sunday insert coupons out there under $1.00 in value.

It starts with the soonest-to-expire and goes from there. Our research resource as we composed this list was the new link to AFullCup.com's coupon database. Matchups or links to fellow bloggers' matchups to come.

Note: If you are a fellow blogger and wish to link to this Google Document list, please link to this blog post instead of directly to the list. Thanks!
