For years I paid around $60 for a haircut and tip. I maintain a short haircut and require extra care because I have stubborn, thick hair that needs to be thinned and texturized every 5 weeks - or it's messy! So I've been willing to pay for skill.
About a year ago, though, one of my girlfriends tipped me off about a great salon called Bubbles. I'm now hooked on my favorite stylist there, along with several other girlfriends! If you're ready to try something new while saving money, give a Bubbles Salon a chance. I pay $35 for a cut and feel blessed to be able to give a generous tip because I save so much on the actual haircut!
As another note, I've taken my toddler in with me several times, and the staff is great at helping amuse him while he waits. They even sent him home with a goodie bag last time, including bubble bath and coupons. It made both our days!

A faithful reader recommends Holly Hair Design. She had her hair cut by the salon owner along with cap highlights for a mere $40 recently?! She said that the owner wouldn't even accept a tip.

I love Bubbles too! When I started going there 2 years ago, my cut was $35 but my stylist has since been promoted so now it's $40...still not bad, though, for this area. I go to Sarah at the Fairfax Corner location. That's a great tip about them letting you bring your toddler, though! I'd never thought to do that and always just went at night when hubby is home.
