I just got the following email from RedBox regarding a change in the free monthly Monday codes:
"As a loyal redbox customer, we want to make sure you know about an upcoming change to our Monthly Movie Monday program. Beginning Monday, December 7, the Monthly Movie Monday promo code will be distributed exclusively via text message to customers signed up to the redbox SMS Network.
All codes will be unique and can only be redeemed once. If you get your code from a friend, online or in an email, the code may NOT work. The only way to guarantee your code is valid is to join the SMS Network at redbox.com."

As far as we know, this code was not among the monthly Monday codes - it was a multiuse code that had zipped around the blogosphere a few times by the time we had posted it.
As for the new distro method starting Monday 12/7, it would then seem that it makes Redbox rentals no longer completely free for those who don't subscribe to a texting plan (that would be at least one cheapo of the two of us RU girls ;-p) - but a few pennies to receive the text still ain't bad! :) Thanks for keeping us up to date Laura!
