Frugal Friday: Running!

Though it's not my favorite form of exercise, I have to say that running is by far the most frugal form of exercise! All you need is a pair of running shoes (running clothes optional, we all know that!) and you can run anywhere. Maybe it's not that easy, but it is a whole lot cheaper than the annual gym membership I let lapse at the beginning of the summer.

You may have read that I recently ran a half marathon. I used a Hal Higdon half marathon training schedule to get myself in shape. It was a lot easier to train knowing that many have gone through this type of schedule before me. Having a one-page printout on my fridge kept me accountable and also gave me a place to take notes on runs and keep track of where I was going to run certain distances.

Click here for Hal Higdon's 12-week half-marathon training program.

I agree! Nothing cheaper than walking and running. This fall I am gonna start the Couch to 5K program.

Stop by and visit me over at Free 2 Be Frugal sometime soon...we are back up and running once again!

Barefoot running is gaining popularity too! Then you can cut out the cost of shoes/socks and potential injury! :)
