5 Reasons to Visit Giant This Week, 07/23-07/29

Big berry deals! Talk about a good week for making smoothies. :)

And before this kicks off - we just received a email from a reader (thanks!!) stating that the Fredericksburg Giant refused Internet coupons on the basis that too many customers are abusing them. Since I haven't redeemed an Internet coupon at Giant for a while, I thought that I'd ping our readers to get a readout for recent Internet coupon acceptance or rejections. If you're inclined, please leave a comment with details (including location). If this is happening at more than just a single Giant location, it could definitely change how I do the Giant matchups...obviously not spending the time hunting down and linking to printable coupons. Thanks in advance for participating!

I go to the Giant in Fairfax, VA (Greenbriar). About a month ago I was told that they were no longer accepting internet coupons. Then, two weeks ago, I was told that they were only accepting internet coupons under $1.00. And, then, last night, I was told that they are once again accepting all internet coupons. I think they are just as confused as we are at this point.

I had some trouble 2 weeks ago at the Chantilly Giant with my internet coupons. The cashier refused to use them at first, I balked, and then she called her supervisor and was told it was ok. Then she wasn't going to allow them to be doubled/tripled (it was when Giant had the 5 coupons that would triple a manu coupon in the WP) because the top of the coupon said "Do Not Double." But, I had to point out to her that when she used the coupon the register automatically doubled it so why not triple it? She got annoyed and did it, but it was a rather frustrating experience. I'll probably stop going there indefinitely if I get flak again by using Internet coupons. Other stores in the area accept them & double them without hassle. While I love a good deal and saving money, some days more unnecessary frustration just isn't worth it...

I go to the Giant in Purcellville, VA and have had no problem at all using internet coupons. They have not said anything to me about any restrictions and have passed them through as normal, even with the dollar doubler and tripler coupons.

I shop at Giant in Fredericksburg & enjoy self checkout. No problems with internet coupons. Customer service at my store - Town & Country - is great. They will redeem a coupon post purchase if it fails to come off at self checkout.

I recently had some issues with internet coupons at my local Giant. I was also curious about their policy on redeeming RR from Walgreens. I sent an e-mail to Customer Service and received the following response:
Thank you for taking the time to write in regards to our coupon policy. You are correct that our policy states that internet coupons are accepted. However, internet coupons for free items are not accepted. Coupons that are generated through the register at any of our competitors are gladly accepted as long as any purchasing requirements are met. In addition, any coupons received from a competitor through the mail or flyers are accepted under these same terms. There is no limit to the number of coupons redeemable as long as the purchasing requirement has been met. However, there is a limit of one coupon per item(s) as stated on the coupon. I apologize for the inaccuracy of coupon redemption you have received. I am pleased that you have chosen to shop with us and have had an overall positive experience with us. I will be speaking personally with every cashier to reinforce our coupon policy. Thank you for your feedback. Please feel free to contact me if you have anything further you wish to discuss.
Thank you

I'm in Fredericksburg and this past week shopped at both the Park n' Shop Giant, and the Celebrate VA Giant in South Stafford and had no problem using internet coupons.

At both Giant and Safeway stores in the DC area they have been receiving a lot of photocopied coupons. Some people seem to think that this is okay. It's making life hard for the rest of us. So I've just stopped using internet coupons because it's become so frustrating. I'm pretty much stockpiled on staples so I'm focusing on produce and meat deals mostly.
