Starbucks: BOGO Drinks this weekend!

Starbucks isn't typically a place where I've been able to find deals or coupons.  But lately, Starbucks has surprised me!

This weekend,  head to Starbucks and take a friend or love.  Buy One Holiday Drink, Get One Free from November 18-21, 2-5 pm.  Only certain drinks are included, like the luscious peppermint hot cocoa my sister and I adore!

On December 1, Starbucks rolls out its "12 Days of Sharing" with an "exclusive offer each day."

That's all for now, but you can count on me (Mel) for the Starbucks scoop! Leave us a comment if you go.  I'll be interested to see how busy my local store is.

Reminder: Free Coffee at Starbucks TODAY 4/15!

Starbucks is running a promotion TODAY, Thursday 4/15. Submit your taxes, then go get your free coffee!

I'll be limping over to our local Starbucks for free coffee in my favorite mug. Too bad it's not a free latte - but perhaps I should take an occasional break from my obsession!

As part of its green initiative, Starbucks will be giving free coffee to customers who bring their own reusable mug.

Starbucks already rewards customers with a $.10 discount for bringing in a reusable mug. Click here for more information.

Starbucks: bring your own travel mug to get more and save money!

Starbucks fans may know that customers save $.10 per drink by using their own travel mug.

I recently stumbled onto this truth because I noticed it in fine print at the bottom of one of the pricing signs in my local store. I finally remembered to put my travel mug in the car a few weeks ago, and I was pleasantly surprised when my large mug came back to me overflowing with my favorite tall skinny vanilla latte. I'm not kidding, I couldn't even put the lid on, the steamed milk was so high!

I tried this again at another location about 2 weeks ago, and then again this morning. Starbucks consistently fills my 16-ounce mug to the brim even when I order a tall (12 ounces) sized drink. Yahoo! I even filled my mug up with water at home to be sure it is larger than 12 ounces. It's definitely 16 ounces, thanks to my chemistry experiment!

So next time you visit your local coffee shop, take your own mug. I know for sure that both Starbucks and Caribou Coffee offer the discount. Let us know if anyone else gives your more drink for free!

If you haven't signed up for their email newsletters yet, I encourage you to do so. Both Caribou Coffee and Starbucks offer a coupon for a free drink on your birthday amongst other deals.

Two FREE Starbucks Recipes - Banana Walnut Bread and Outrageous Oatmeal Cookies

Did you hear the exciting news? Starbucks has just released recipes for two of its hottest treats. It's part of a campaign to increase awareness that Starbucks recipes now contain:

• No artificial flavors
• No artificial trans fats
• No artificial dyes
• No high-fructose corn syrup

Add these to your recipe bookmarks of DIY frugal treats for future reference. I'll bet they both freeze pretty well, too.

Banana Walnut Bread

Outrageous Oatmeal Cookies

Enjoy some of these with a home-brewed cup of coffee, making your java and treat together well under a buck. (Compare with $4-$6 in the restaurant!)

Clearanced Starbucks - at CVS and at Target!

I did a run to CVS today - to snag the $3.49 Skintimate Shave Cream that was free after ExtraCare Bucks. Since I had a $3.98 ExtraCare Buck receipt, I needed at least $0.50 worth of filler to be able to spend my $3.98 (your total must exceed the ECBs spent). I was shocked to discover Starbucks chocolate bars priced to clear at $1.50 - and this made me very happy, as I had picked up some $1/1 Starbucks chocolate coupons from blinkies in the very same CVS store just a few weeks ago. My $0.50 filler - better than my usual $0.50 fillers for sure! If you saw the same blinkies, you can snag yourself some mocha or milk chocolate (but the dark chocolate wasn't on clearance...). I paid $0.05 after the $3.98 ECB, and earned $3.49 ECBs back. Yea!

On to Target, where I was going to try to pick up the aforementioned $4.50 Dunkin' Donuts coffee. After grabbing the coffee, I went to glance at the clearance display at the end of one of the food aisles. And what to my wondering eyes should appear...but clearanced holiday season dark chocolate raspberry Frappuccino 4-packs, discount-priced at just $2.49. I didn't have a Starbucks coupon for this (in fact, can't recall ever having seen bottled Frappuccino coupons...), but that's as cheap as I've ever seen a Frappuccino 4-pack, especially for a drink that retailed $1.50-$2.00 in single doses last fall! The packaging says that the drinks are best until May 2009. In addition, the transaction generated some sort of Target-type Catalina: a printout for a free Starbucks Pike Place coffee (up to $1.95 value, expires 05/31/09) with the purchase of any other Starbucks Pike Place coffee, at in-Target Starbucks locations. If you're into raspberry/coffee flavors and Starbucks in general, this deal's for you! The Voice of Mom reviewed Dark Chocolate Raspberry Frappuccinos here.
