Today's Target Run - A Few Back-to-School Bargains

While I was a little unsettled to see the Christmas items already populating the shelves at one corner of my Target, I did notice today that opposite the Christmas stuff in the same aisle was a LOT of deeply discounted school supplies - large signs read 75% off. I scooped up:

• Some Dora the Explorer single-subject notebooks for $0.48 ea.
• Some Dora the Explorer folders for $0.24 ea.
• Some stretch fabric book covers, various styles and colors, for just $0.22/ea. (!!) Think about that price, then think about all of the pains you'd have to take to cut up a paper grocery bag for a homemade cover. At $0.22 each they'll keep well for next year!

I also spotted some Disney princess and Tinkerbell stuff, along with basics like solid color notebooks, pencils, etc., all discounted at least this much.

Next to this display were also a lot of summer-oriented objects (an outdoor "mist-blowing" fan, for example, and OFF sprays) that were significantly discounted. Do a Target run this week if you can to see if there are any seasonal-discount deals like these that may interest you!

• Frugal Friends assembled this oh-so-useful post on current new-prescription and prescription-transfer offers and coupons out there - including some free-with-prescription gift card offers! The great part about seeing this all in one place is the fact that some of the pharmacies listed, like CVS, accept competitor coupons. Hot diggity! Thanks, Laura!!

• Here's a first for photo customization: ArtsCow is doing a promo for their new exclusive Personalized Photo Umbrella. Get one for $19.99, shipping free, through September 13, using the code FOLDUMB1999. See the sample product here.

• Get a $1 coupon off eos (evolution of smooth) lipbalm by going here. This mostly organic minty-flavored lipbalm retails around $3 at drugstores and mass retailers, so if you can find a way to stack it with a sale or store coupon, you could get it pretty cheap. They're so cute, they would make great stocking stuffers.

• Go here for an easy manufacturer's coupon/store coupon stacking scenario at Target - getting you a FREE two-pack of Johnson and Johnson's Bedtime Bath (mmm smells so dreamy!). This stuff is a yummy lavender smelling bubble bath that adults and kids can enjoy in their baths as well as babies! Thanks, Jodi!

• Enjoy cooking with and eating olive oil, vinegars, olives, and so on? Go here to fill out a short survey, and in exchange for your info, you will be sent five $4 ($20 worth!) coupons for Star products by mail. I was sure to mention that the more coupons and sales that Star promotes, the likelier I am to try its products and become a regular user. Thanks, Money Saving Mom!

• And finally...one decidedly-not-frugality-oriented coupon - 20% off already discounted items at Coach Factory Outlet. One of these just opened in Potomac Mills, so if there is a big ticket handbag purchase on your horizon (or you just want to forward our post to someone you'd like to consider making a big ticket handbag purchase), this is the coupon for you! VA locations include Williamsburg, Leesburg, and Woodbridge (Potomac Mills). MD locations are in Hagerstown and Queenstown. Find your local Coach factory outlet here. Thanks, 30 Dollar Weekly Grocery Challenge!

Walmart and Staples Back-to-School Steals starting at $0.15

Frugal Coupon Mom posted a summary listing of some must-not-miss steals for WalMart this week. (Thank you!!)

Notebooks from $0.15, Crayola crayons 24-packs at $0.25 (these normally go ~$3!) - and that is just a little sampling from the hot school supplies deals list.

Also see the list of $0.25 school supplies at Staples, as posted by Mommy's Wish List (Thanks!).

Even if you don't have school-age children, consider the supplies as part of a arts'n'crafts gift for nieces, nephews, etc., or part of a local back-to-school backpack charity project like Operation Backpack.
