2010 Entertainment Book: Only $9!

This is a great time to buy a
2010 Entertainment Book!

All books are on sale right now for $15 + free shipping, but if you make your purchase through a shopping portal called FatWallet, you'll get an additional $6 back.

We enjoy using our Entertainment Book for BOGO deals on date night dinners out, coupons for Dick's Sporting Goods, and some free items like a sandwich at Firehouse Subs. If I'm making a big grocery run at Safeway, I also use the $5/$50 purchase coupons found in there. There's one for every quarter in the book. Other friends really like to use the BOGO movie ticket coupons.

Considering that these retail for $25-$30, this is the best price I've heard, especially this early in the year?! I'm considering snatching up another one just to get the coupons for free items inside.

If you haven't heard of FatWallet before, it's "a community of savvy shoppers," much like Slickdeals. I like to look for coupon codes, printable coupons, and other deals on FatWallet. It functions like Ebates as well, where members receive cash back on certain purchases made through the FatWallet portal.

If you'd prefer not to become a member of FatWallet, Ebates is offering 25% back on the purchase of a 2010 Entertainment Book through April 30.

As a disclaimer, if you sign up under our Ebates referral link here, we will receive Ebates cash back thanks to you.

Thanks, Slickdeals!

2010 Entertainment Books: 40% off

Entertainment Books are on sale for 40% off right now. Regularly priced at $35, that means the NOVA one is $21. Shipping comes up at $2.49 per item.

The price will go down as the year goes on, but it would be easy to make back the $21 by using the coupons inside if you're interested in buying one.

You can search the restaurants and discounts on the website if you'd like to double check what might be useful to you in your geographic area before buying.

Be sure to go through Ebates to get an additional $6 back! Wow!

Preview: 2010 Entertainment Book

Those of you who have read about my love of the Entertainment Book before would imagine how excited I was when my father-in-law walked in the door last weekend with the brand new 2010 Entertainment Book for me! He called it an early Christmas gift, and I was more than thrilled.

Yes, I was so thrilled that I sat down that very night and paged through the entire book to see what was new, what was back from 2009, and what deals I could dream about for the coming year. Call me a nerd, but I'm a visual learner, and seeing coupons helps me remember what is in there because the NOVA edition is so big and covers a large geographic area.

Here are some highlights:

• On the cover of the book, there is a set of "Bonus Cards." These include cards for $5 off at TGI Fridays, $5 off at Johnny Rockets, $10 off at Valvoline Instant Oil Change, and $5 off at AMF Bowling. The best part of these bonus cards? There is no purchase minimum. So subtract the discount from whatever you buy!

• Firehouse Subs is back again this year with a coupon for a free medium sub at 2 locations. In the past it has only been 1 location. I really like their subs and drive out of my way to use those coupons because it's such a delicious, frugal deal.

• Cold Stone Creamery has put coupons in there for the first time. These are mostly BOGO coupons, but it's an expensive place to get ice cream so every little bit helps.

• Dick's Sporting Goods is back with its page of coupons. I have used these coupons the past few years around Christmas and combined several gift purchases to maximize the savings. They offer coupons for $15 off a $75 purchase, $20 off a $100 purchase, etc.

• Fuddruckers is participating for the first time with a $5 off $25 purchase coupon. I have never seen a Fuddrucks coupon before, so I'm excited about this one!

• There are BOGO car wash coupons, BOGO movie theater coupons, and lots of other BOGO restaurant coupons. There are also lots of travel discounts and promotion codes for websites that haven't been listed before.

We'll be listing Entertainment Book deals in the coming weeks. Hopefully we'll spot a deal on buying Entertainment Books we can share, too. I never buy them full price, and I never pay for shipping. I would like to have a second one again for next year, so I'll keep you posted on any deals I spot on buying one.

Works for Me Wednesday: Entertainment Book

It's Wednesday again - time for another "Works for Me!" tip, inspired by the blog carnival/series at We are THAT Family. To see this week's Works for Me Wednesday carnival and tips, click here.

Two years ago a friend turned me on to the Entertainment Book, and I am officially hooked! I'm so hooked that I bought 2 of them this year at great discounts (I never pay full price). Here's why I'm hooked:

• Entertainment Books contain restaurant coupons for freebies or BOGO deals that more than pay for the book's original cost. Often these coupons can be combined with promotions or deals that restaurants offer from time to time.
• Entertainment Books contain BOGO movie coupons, BOGO cultural event coupons (museums, concerts, shows, etc.) that are great for family outings or date nights.
• Entertainment Books contain Safeway coupons! The past 2 years' books have contained 4 Safeway coupons to use one per quarter for $5 off a $50 purchase.
• Entertainment Books feature retail coupons! The past 2 years I have scored great birthday and Christmas gifts using the coupons in the books from Dick's Sporting Goods. There are also promotional codes in the book which you can use for some retail websites.
• Entertainment Books contain travel promotions, coupons and coupon codes. These are useful when planning trips or buying travel gifts for others.

• The Entertainment Book website features even more discounts and printable coupons. For example, the Northern Virginia print version offers a coupon for a free medium sandwich at Firehouse Subs. By using the email address I used to purchase my Entertainment Book and logging into the Entertainment Book website with it, I was able to print one additional coupon. Double the freebies! Some of these coupons are available to folks who have not even purchased an Entertainment Book but simply create a profile at the website. Nice feature!
• Lastly, Entertainment Books make great gifts for people who have everything or for a friend who has moved to a new zip code. They're a great way to get to know an area.

We are going to start posting more tips and ways to capitalize on Entertainment Book coupons alongside restaurant or store promotions. Stay tuned! We'd love to hear your Entertainment Book ideas, too, so leave us a comment when you use yours!
